How to Adjust the Stirrups

Shorten and adjust the wheelchair stirrups for your dog

Stirrups are optional for paws that are dragging or knuckling under. The stirrups attach to the back of the wheelchair on each silver metal loop (also called “eye pads”). The rubber tubes on the stirrups need to be above the dog’s hock. Use the push ball lock to adjust to a snug fit. The dog’s leg should be several inches off the ground.

You can adjust the length of the cord by re-tying the knot. If you use the stirrups, use both. Using only one stirrup causes the dog to feel unbalanced.

IMPORTANT: When taking the dog out of the wheelchair, make sure to release the stirrups FIRST.
