What is Cerebellar Hypoplasia?

CH occurs in pets when the cerebellum in their brain does not develop fully in utero. Cerebellar hypoplasia occurs in both dogs and cats, impacting their mobility, posture, equilibrium and balance.

Signs & Symptoms of Cerebellar Hypoplasia

Most pets will show signs of CH very early on in their development, usually when they first begin to walk and stand. 

  • A wide stance when standing or walking
  • Uncontrollable tremors - most often occurring are head tremors
  • Balance loss
  • Uncoordinated movements 
  • Jerky steps when walking
